Whether you're new to programming or wanting to sharpen your skills, Delaware Innovation Week's Dev Conference is perfect for you. Introductory Workshops on different programming languages will be offered to start the day. 

Following our workshops, an afternoon of mixed-level dev talks focused around problem solving and innovative solutions will inspire new ideas.

Introduction to Typescript with Mikaila Akeredolu at Zip Code Wilmington 

TypeScript is a typed superset of JavaScript that gets transpiled to plain JavaScript. This course will get you familiar with TypeScript and its powerful and scalable, cross-platform language . You will cover all of the main language features of TypeScript by building a simple app.

Requirements:

  • A beginner level understanding of JavaScript
  • You need to have Node.js and NPM installed. 
  • Having typescript already installed is a plus

Mo Data, Mo Problems (Apache Spark and Python) with Tariq Hook at Zip Code Wilmington

Apache Spark is an open source big data processing framework built around speed, ease of use, and sophisticated analytics. Get ready for an action-packed crash course in the basics of Apache Spark through the lens of Python. Spark can perform up to 100x faster than Hadoop MapReduce, and is used by major companies like Amazon, Airbnb, and Amazon. We will also touch on Machine Library frameworks and how they can work with Spark. All done while looking through the lens of real world consulting problems! At the end of the class you may have 99 problems, but Big Data won’t be one.

Requirements:

  • General Programming Skills in any Language (Preferably Python)
  • 20 GB of free space on your local computer.
